Neuromuscular Trigger Point Soft-Tissue Therapy – The “Trigger Point” Secret To Ending Muscle Aches and Pains
Our neuromuscular treatments pinpoint your stiff muscles and exact location of your pain, stiffness, numbness, or weakness. Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) specifically locates and releases your tight muscles and trigger points getting to the CAUSE or source of your pain.
According to Dr. Janet Travell, generally recognized as the leading pioneer in diagnosis and treatment of muscle pain, trigger points are a component up to 93 percent of the muscle pains seen in pain clinics, and the SOLE cause of such pain as much as 85 percent of the time.
Your muscles make up a HUGE part of your body. When your body has physical trauma, strains, or emotional stress, your muscles are strongly affected. Yet, until recently the muscles and trigger points have been largely overlooked as a major cause for your pain. Now, studies show your muscles, particularly trigger points, play a big role in terms of health and dysfunction to the overall economy of your body and its ability to function well.
What Causes your pain?
Neuromuscular therapy identify 5 sources of your pain:
1. Ischemia is a lack of blood supply to your muscles causing them to become very sensitive to the touch. Go ahead and make a fist for 10 seconds and open it. See how “pale” your skin looks from no blood flow?
When your muscles are tight or in spasm throughout the day, blood and oxygen are not optimally nourishing your cells and eliminating waste products. Also, good circulation in your muscles is a key component to fighting disease and superb health.
2. Trigger Points are small “knots” in your muscles that when compressed create referred pain locally or to other areas of your body. For example, do you ever feel like your neck muscles create a pounding headache behind your eye, base of your skull, or anywhere in your head? Or do your shoulder muscles when tight from sitting in front of a computer produce numbness or pain down your arms, even into your hands?
3. Nerve compression or entrapment is pressure on a nerve by muscles or bone. Who do you know who has complained of Sciatica? Because so many of us sit all day, this “pain in the butt” is commonly caused by your hip muscle called the piriformis pushing on your sciatic nerve creating pain deep in your hip and even down your leg.
Or, so many people today are wrongly diagnosed with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome when the CAUSE of their arm and hand pain comes from their neck. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) is a perfect example.
Because of poor posture and slumping at the computer for 8 hours a day, our neck and shoulder muscles begin tightening around the nerves and arteries. Well, guess what? These nerves and arteries just happen to run down our arms…
So when they’re squeezed and compressed in your neck and shoulder you feel pain all the way into your arm and hand. This is so common among computer workers that one could say that Bill Gates has been a huge supporter of the medical industry.
4. Postural distortion. is a muscle imbalance (too weak or tight) which pulls your body out of alignment. Computer-shoulder and forward-head posture are perfect examples.
Stand in front of a mirror and check out your alignment…
Is one of your shoulders or hips higher or lower than the other? Does your pelvis feel tilted or rotated more than it should be? Do you stand favoring one side? Look down at your feet. Do they turn outward or inward? These are all postural distortions that when corrected and eliminated restore proper posture and get rid of pain.
5. Biomechanical dysfunction is an imbalance of your muscles and bones resulting in improper movement patterns. Spend a few minutes watching people walk and you notice how common it is to swing one arm more, favor one side, or be stuck in improper movement patterns.
This constant straining of certain muscles frequently leads to many aches and pains and is re-educated with our neuromuscular treatments.
What conditions does neuromuscular therapy help?
Our neuromuscular treatments successfully address and help eliminate pain associated with: Back pain, Neck pain, Shoulder Pain, Headaches, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Carpal Tunnel, Herniated Discs, Scoliosis, Knee, Hip, or Joint Pain, Rotator Cuff (shoulder problems), Sports Injuries, TMJ, Whiplash, Osteoarthritis, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Tendonitis, Spasms, Cramps, Strains, Postural Distortions, Poor Posture, Stress, Tension, and more…
Neuromuscular therapy gets to the SOURCE of your pain, whether you experience an aching, throbbing, burning, stabbing, tingling, piercing, grinding, tension, stiffness, restriction, clicking or pounding sensation.

What is Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)?
In the 1930′s Dr. Stanley Lief, a trained Chiropractor and Naturopathic Physician along with his cousin Boris Chaitow also trained in chiropractic and naturopathy experimented with neuromuscular treatments for muscular pain at Leif’s world-famous health resort in Hertfordshire, England.
The treatment was so successful that their neuromuscular technique became common practice in osteopathic and sports therapy venues all over Europe.
Over the next several decades, two American Doctors, Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. David Simons, published a two volume set of textbooks titled “The Trigger Point Manual on Upper Body and Lower Body Pain” that identified with documentation, research, and references that the Source of most pain is “knots” in your muscles.
A whole new field of study for chronic pain was introduced to the medical, dental,, and therapeutic communities called-Neuromuscular Therapy.
Dr. Janet Travell went on to become the first woman White House Physician and the personal physician to President John F. Kennedy.
President Kennedy credits her Trigger Point Neuromuscular Therapy as the only effective treatment for his debilitating back pain that was so crippling he considered stepping down as President.
The Only Safe, Effective, and Proven Treatment for Muscle Tension & Pain
Dr. Travell identified very sensitive areas found in your muscles as the root CAUSE of pain 93% of the time.
She called these sensitive areas “trigger points” and by releasing these “trigger points” the stress on the muscles is released and the pain is eliminated.
What causes these “trigger points”?
Stress, anxiety, and constant worry
Nervous tension, trauma, poor posture
Strenuous activity, Car accidents, Pregnancy
Sudden falls, sports injuries, running, sleeping on your stomach or side, aerobics, leaning weight on only one leg for a long period of time…and more.
In many cases chronic pain is 80% relieved within a few weeks of regular neuromuscular treatments.

They relieve stress, induce relaxation and well-being, and greatly aid in the restoration of your health-without side effects, drugs, or pills. Neuromuscular treatments universally applies to any person of any age suffering from any condition.
Since no one is free of some degree of muscle dysfunction, which affects the overall efficiency and economy of your body, these neuromuscular treatments are therapeutically valuable for all conditions.
Neuromuscular Therapy identifies weak spots and knots in your muscles which are potential muscle strains, preventing injury before it happens!
Neuromuscular Therapy Prevents:
Muscle strains/tears so you move pain-free and stay active for years.
Poor posture so you don’t slouch and feel round-shouldered. (You stand straighter, your shoulders further back, and FIGHT “computer shoulder”)

Here are some more of their stories…
“I was side-lined in 2006 with a torn meniscus in my left knee and a rotator cuff repair in my left shoulder. After extensive rehab and strength training I started competing again but I wasn’t feeling good out on the court. I wassuffering from back pain due to a phenomenon known as compensation. I was getting stronger on my surgery side, but weaker on my healthy side. After two ‘signature body work treatments’ I felt complete relief from pain and was able to focus on the volleyball court without thinking about my body.”

“I was suffering from debilitating headaches and extreme upper-back pain as a result of a severe car accident in September of 2006. I started to see them for neuromuscular therapy and within the first week my headaches were completely gone and after the second week my upper-back pain was gone – never to return. Their knowledge of the field and dedication and desire to help patients achieve a pain-free lifestyle is revolutionary.”
“Being a professional athlete comes with a lot of body wear & tear. Revolution has been a key part to my success this year on the beach”
