DO YOU HAVE ANY CANCELLATION FEES?

Yes, please give a 24-hour notice if you need to cancel an appointment. If notice is not given you will be charged the $30 cancellation fee for the appointment time missed.

HOW EARLY SHOULD I ARRIVE FOR MY MASSAGE?

If you’re new, we ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes before your session to fill out new client paperwork and have a consultation with your therapist on the type of massage your like. If you’re an existing client, arrive about 5 minutes before your session.

I PREFER A FEMALE THERAPIST. SHOULD I REQUEST THIS?

This is your time, your massage, your comfort level. Some people have gender preferences, some don’t. It is perfectly acceptable to request a female therapist. It is well known in the massage industry that very often, women prefer female therapists and men often have a preference for female therapists as well. Some people request and prefer male therapists only as well thinking there’s more strength and deeper pressure. As you get more and more experienced receiving massages, you may open up to the possibility of a male therapist. Many people who at first wanted only female therapists find that once they try a male therapist, they actually enjoy the additional strength and pressure a male therapist can offer.

IS THE MASSAGE THERAPIST THERE WHEN I UNDRESS?

Absolutely not! The massage therapist walks you to the treatment room to discuss your goals and desires for your session. After that, they leave the room for you to undress to your comfort level and to get under the top sheet and blanket. They wait and always knock before entering, making sure you tell them it’s okay to come in the room.

SHOULD I TAKE OFF MY UNDERWEAR?

Many people do completely undress for their massage, including all undergarments. You are always completely covered and draped at all times by a blanket and sheet and the only area your therapist uncovers is the area they are working on.
However, it’s most important to undress to your comfort level, as it’s also completely normal to keep on your underwear during the massage. It is completely your choice and the massage therapist is always respectful about it.

WHAT ABOUT TALKING DURING A MASSAGE SESSION?

It’s YOUR time, so your therapist is open to you leading the conversation whether to talk. It’s fine to talk with your therapist during your massage, and also fine to just remain quiet, relax, and “check out” for an hour. It’s helpful for your therapist to check in with you during your session about pressure, yet feel free to tell your therapist right from the beginning that you wish to remain quiet the entire session.
If you have specific aches, pains, or chief complaints, sometimes it’s really good for your therapist to check in with you on pressure or feedback.
It is important to let the therapist know if you are in pain during the session. It is perfectly acceptable to ask questions and talk during the massage, but it is also appropriate to simply receive the massage and remain completely quiet during your session.

WHAT ABOUT TIPPING?

If you enjoyed your service, tips are always appreciated. A standard tip in the massage industry for a satisfied massage is on average $25.

WHAT DO I DO IF I’M SELF-CONSCIOUS ABOUT A CERTAIN BODY PART OF MINE AND DON’T WANT THE THERAPIST TO SEE IT?

We all can be self-conscious for various reasons, it’s completely normal. Some of the more common concerns are:

  • I’m overweight.
  • I have excessive hair growth on my body.
  • I’ve got acne on my face or back.
  • My feet are ugly.
  • I have scars.

If you’re self-conscious about a certain part of your body, just tell your massage therapist to avoid that area. Just remember – your therapist is a professional. They work on all types of bodies, ages, and conditions. They are here for you and to meet your specific needs for the session.

WHAT DO I DO IF THE PRESSURE ISN’T DEEP ENOUGH AND I WANT MORE, BUT I DON’T WANT TO INSULT THE THERAPIST?

This is your massage session, so definitely speak up your needs about pressure or any other requests and desires. Your therapist can check in with you on pressure, yet they aren’t mind readers, so they definitely want you to give them feedback for whether you want more or less pressure. Massage Revolution has very experienced and skilled therapists, and how you get the best massage out of them is to clearly speak your needs before, during, and even after your session for next time. We hope you do this, your therapist wants you to do this, so please communicate with them clearly so that they can best meet your needs. It’s as simple assaying “I really prefer deeper pressure there” , “That pressure is too deep there, please go lighter”, or “Can you work more time on that area please.”

HOW DO I KNOW THAT NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE IS WHAT I NEED AND NOT ANY OTHER TYPE OF MASSAGE?

Most people experience longer lasting relief from aches and pains with neuromuscular massage. However, ultimately the only way to know is to experience it, so it’s always suggested to give it 3-5 visits to assess how well it’s working for you.

Neuromuscular massage treatments successfully address and help eliminate pain associated with: Back pain , Neck pain , Shoulder Pain , Headaches , Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Carpal Tunnel, Herniated Discs, Scoliosis, Knee, Hip,or Joint Pain, Rotator Cuff (shoulder problems), Sports Injuries, TMJ, Whiplash, Osteoarthritis, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome,Tendonitis, Spasms, Cramps, Strains, Postural Distortions, Poor Posture, Stress, Tension, and more…

IS NEUROMUSCULAR PAINFUL?

Your therapist will always communicate with you to work within your comfort level, and they want you to communicate with them as well if it’s ever too uncomfortable. Sometimes working aches, pains, and trigger points, there’s inflamed areas that can be mildly uncomfortable when someone is treating them. Your neuromuscular therapist always works within your comfort level, of about a 6-7/10 on the pain scale, where even though it may be mildly uncomfortable, you’re still able to relax. The ultimate goal of your session is longer lasting relief!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE THERAPY (OTHER THAN LASTING RELIEF)?

Neuromuscular massage treatments successfully address and help eliminate pain associated with: Back pain , Neck pain , Shoulder Pain , Headaches , Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Carpal Tunnel, Herniated Discs, Scoliosis, Knee, Hip,or Joint Pain, Rotator Cuff (shoulder problems), Sports Injuries, TMJ, Whiplash, Osteoarthritis, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome,Tendonitis, Spasms, Cramps, Strains, Postural Distortions, Poor Posture, Stress, Tension, and more…
Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Prevents:

  • Muscle strains/tears so you move pain-free and stay active for years.
  • Poor posture so you don’t slouch and feel round-shouldered. (You stand straighter, your shoulders further back, and FIGHT“computer shoulder”)
  • Fatigue from chronic tension and stress so you have more energy for you and your family. How? Studies prove chronic pain decreases your energy levels. (Neuromuscular Massage Therapy eliminates your chronic pain and boosts your energy)
  • Osteoporosis by realigning your muscles and bones producing less force on your joints… so you never fall apart!
WHAT IS NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE THERAPY (NMT)?

Neuromuscular Massage is an incredibly effective form of bodywork that typically gives a lot more RELIEF from muscular aches and pains. It works your muscles very specifically, targeted, and detailed.

  • FIRST, your neuromuscular therapist assesses your posture for muscle imbalances and which muscles are tight and they need to release to improve your alignment.
  • SECOND, your neuromuscular therapist releases your tight muscles very thoroughly and the trigger points inside them, to give you more longer lasting relief.” It works your muscles more specific by treating the complete muscle belly, muscle attachments from origin to insertion, and all the “landmine knots” called trigger points to give you a lot more RELIEF. Trigger points are proven in the medical community to be at the root cause of 80+% of muscular pain Click here to learn more about neuromuscular massage
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NEUROMUCULAR, DEEP TISSUE, AND SWEDISH MASSAGE?

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is a complete “system” for treating and relieving muscular aches and pains.

  1. It begins with a detailed posture assessment to see what muscles are pulling you out of alignment, and what muscles need to be released to bring you back into more alignment and balance.
  2. Neuromuscular gives you a lot more lasting relief from aches and pains by treating your muscles and soft-tissues much more detailed and laser focused, by treating the complete muscle belly, the attachments, tendons, and also the “trigger points” which are scientifically proven to be at the root cause of 80+% of muscular pain.
  3. So neuromuscular treats and balances your posture and your pain, all in 1 treatment!

Most people who like deep tissue, LOVE neuromuscular massage because it’s exactly what they’ve been looking for. They’ve been wanting someone to target and angle right into their knots, and typically find that neuromuscular massage does this best.
Deep tissue massage is often more about pressure and general aches and pains, which is highly effective as well. It’s less about laser-focusing in on specific trigger points causing your pain.
Swedish massage is your typically classic relaxation massage, with lighter pressure and strokes.

WHY IS NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE MORE EXPENSIVE?

Neuromuscular massage is the most advanced form of bodywork and soft-tissue therapy, which means a lot more time, energy, and training goes into learning how to perfect it. Just like “fine wine” costs more than “house wine”, neuromuscular massage is truly the fine wine of all types of massages. Ultimately, if your goals are to relieve aches and pains, you’ll spend less money with the lasting relief you get over time from neuromuscular massages.
